INTRODUCTION
Mount Hope Harare International Church is a multiracial church that was started on the 21st of February 2003. It is a local assembly under the General Council of the Assemblies of God Zimbabwe begun as an effort to reach special groups in the country which were not focused on since the beginning of the organization. It was also planted to provide a church home for those of like faith from beyond the borders of Zimbabwe who may have relocated into the country, or may be here on vocational and/ or national mission. The General Council Assemblies of God Zimbabwe has been experiencing a steady growth from the late 60s and early 70s. The denomination which was started by missionaries, came in the country through Gwanda, Bulawayo metropolitan, Harare and later Gweru. At present there are more than 85 assemblies distributed in most of the major cities of the country. However, despite the spreading of congregations in the cities of Zimbabwe, the movement left out certain groups of people such as Asians, International groups, and those from high social sections.
The leadership of GCAG through the then General Superintendent Rev S Kachikopa, felt this was an oversight by the organization. He went on to share his concern and desire to reach these groups with one of the then American Assemblies of God missionaries to Zimbabwe, Ken Krucker. Towards the end of 2002 the two of them agreed to plant a church. Missionary Ken and his family supported by the General Superintendent‘s church, which was in Chisipite at the time planted Mount Hope Harare International Church.
